There are many different High-End thermal cameras on the internet. These cameras offer very impressive specifications, and for an affordable price. Some of these cameras even rival or outperform many of the well-known brand thermal cameras, and for a fraction of the price.
The downside of buying such a camera, is that almost all of these cameras, are lacking some kind of analysis software for PC. The majority of the cameras, are limited by the functionality of a specific manufacturer written Android or IOS app, which heavily limit the usability and functionality of such capable thermal cameras.
If more advanced features, functionality and a capable PC software is needed, then only well-known brand thermal cameras offer such a solution – but typically at very high prices that most hobbyists or small businesses would find difficult to justify paying for regularly or as a monthly subscription- and with limitations on the physical camera specifications, due to restrictions on the European and American market.
This is where IRCAM Thermal Viewer comes in.
IRCAM Thermal Viewer is developed by a Danish electronics engineer, with a passion for infrared radiation and thermal imaging. The software was originally meant as a simple private tool for electronics R&D, but grew to become much more capable as time progressed. The first versions of the software (A version written in MATLAB App designer) were shared with the public and a discord server was created to foster a community around thermal imaging. Later the software was rewritten in C/C++, and has received many updates to become the software it is today.
IRCAM Thermal Viewer has become the much-needed PC analysis software, which finally unlocks the potential of a vast selection of thermal cameras available on the market. The software features a large selection of advanced features and a community Discord server, where users can ask questions, report issues and suggest new features to future versions of the software.
I personally am not a fan of the modern trend where software is locked behind a monthly subscription fee. It often makes useful tools into ongoing financial commitments that can be hard to justify, especially for hobbyists or small businesses.
By choosing not to implement a subscription model, ensures that you only pay once for full access to all IRCAMs features and future updates – Yes, all updates are free. This approach makes the software more accessible to everyone, from passionate hobbyists to dedicated professionals and researchers, without the burden of recurring costs. It’s my way of giving back to the community and acknowledging the value that both makers and enthusiasts bring to the world of thermal imaging.
I believe that valuable tools should be available without ongoing financial strain, enabling users to focus on their work and exploration, rather than worrying about monthly payments. This commitment to a one-time purchase model reflects my dedication to supporting a broader range of users, ensuring that advanced thermal analysis software is within reach for anyone who needs it.
Thank you for choosing IRCAM Thermal Viewer!
